Will Belgium's wild beer crash Germany's Oktoberfest party? On September 27th our guest beer experts invite you to find out. Guests will enjoy a gourmet meal while the presenters will discuss, explain and debate the merits of their selections. Which pairing will prevail? Will you thrill to the tumult or rejoice in the regimentation? Eight beer tastings battling throughout a four course Oktoberfest-themed Chef's Menu - you decide who wins! 


1st: Warm Soft Pretzel, Beer Mustard // Weisswurst, Potato Salad

2nd: Fischbrotchen // Pickled Herring, Onions, Pumpernickel

3rd: Braised Pork Shank // Spätzle, Red Cabbage

4th: Seasonal Dessert Sampler



Presenter Information

Alex Crowe is an award winning former head brewer for the Sackets Harbor Brewing Co, N.Y.. He holds an M.S. in Biochemistry from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in N.Y., and a Degree in Brewing Technology from the Siebel Institute of Brewing studies, and is a Certified Cicerone™ and BJCP Certified Beer Judge. He teaches the Intro to Beer class at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College and sometimes dabbles in wine (WSET Intermediate Certificate). Alex is a medical researcher at the Marion S Ware Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery group of the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research at the University of Pennsylvania when sober. 


What Is The Dress Code?

Walnut Hill College's dining rooms ask that our guests adhere to a "business casual" dress code while attending events on our campus.



This event is held in the dining rooms of the historical Allison Mansion at 4207 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Guests are welcome to use our FREE gated parking lot directly off of Walnut Street between 42nd and 43rd Streets. Parking is available on a first come, first served basis. Please enter the main entrance to be directed to your table by a College representative.
